Armed Suspects Captured by National Guard

NOGALES, SONORA, MX – National guard captured two men when they were driving through streets at the west side of the city in possession of two handguns and bullets.

The identities were not revealed, but both men were transferred to the Attorney Federal Office for the corresponding process.

The captures occurred Monday at 9pm, when the National Guard officers patrolled Tapalpa Street, in the Pueblitos neighborhood, where they observed two suspects in a white Chevrolet, Malibu, trying to evade inspection.

In their attempt to escape, the suspects hit several cars that were parked on the street. They were detained by National Guard officers who then proceeded to carry out a vehicle inspection.

The elements of the National Guard secured two pistols and ammunition found inside the vehicle, as well as a magazine with cartridges for an AR-15 rifle. The car was also seized.

National guards received support from military authorities in this operation.
