Arizona Governor Announces New Actions to Mitigate the Spread of Covid-19
PHOENIX, ARIZONA, USA – At a press conference on Thursday afternoon, the Arizona State Government announces new actions to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.
Governor Doug Ducey of Arizona announced the implementation of additional measures to prevent the spread of Covidd_19. Measures such as increasing the application of tests in neglected areas, streamlining the delivery of results, and improving hospital capacities.
He also announced that dine-in restaurants must operate at less than 50% of their capacity. Adding that they also must keep a safe distance in sitting areas.
The Governor stated that he will coordinate with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to offer up to 5,000 free Covid-19 tests at sites in Maryvale and South Phoenix.
As well as a partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) to provide free saliva-based tests of Covid-19 using a “drive-through” mode.

The pledge funds up to $ 12.7 million to expand the test sites, hoping to serve 100,000 residents. And alliances with private laboratories to speed up the obtaining of results, expected to process 35,000 tests daily by the end of July and 60,000 by the end of August.
Tucson Government Response
Tucson Mayor Regina Romero issued a statement on social media after the Governor’s announcement. She states that the governor missed another opportunity to take state-level action and save lives.

“He (the Governor) is the elected leader of the state of Arizona and for every day he waits, more people become infected and more lives are needlessly lost”. She added that today’s announcements are simply not good enough.
