Air Rescue Near Gila Bend

TUCSON, ARIZONA, US – The first rescues from the incipient heat season are already beginning to take place in Arizona, where two immigrants were found over the weekend near the Gila Bend.

According to information by the Border Patrol Tucson Sector, agents on Monday rescued two men who were lost near Gila Bend.

Just before midnight on Sunday, a local emergency response call center sent a 911 call to Tucson sector agents about two men who claimed to be lost in the desert.

Dispatchers provided a general search area for officers, who, with the aid of a helicopter, located the men several hours later in a remote area near Gila Bend.

Difficult terrain forced the helicopter to drop off emergency medical technicians, one as an agent for the Tucson sector and the other as a firefighter for the Gila Bend Fire Department.
