Abandoned Car Found With Weapons and Ammunition

MAGDALENA, SONORA, MX – National Guard elements found an abandoned car containing magazines, cartridges, and tactical equipment on the Magdalena-Cucurpe road.

The black Ford Expedition with Sonora license plates WDL1588 was found around 3:00 p.m., according to official reports.

The finding happened when National Guard members proactively patrolled the area where incidents of violence such as shootings and executions have recently occurred.

Inside the car, there were three metal disc magazines for AK-47 rifles and two plastic magazines for AR-15 rifles.

They also found 70 cartridges for AK-47 rifles and 60 for AR-15 type weapons, as well as a camouflage ballistic vest and a metal plate, a camisole, and four camouflage tactical pants.

Authorities collected the equipment and tuned it in to staff of the Federal Public Ministry Agency on the Nogales border.
