10 People Arrested In Human Smuggling Incidents

TUCSON, ARIZONA, USA – On Saturday, US Border Patrol agents arrested a total of 10 people in three separate incidents of human smuggling in southern Arizona.

The first incident occurred at midnight on state route 85. Tucson Sector agents encountered a Ford Expedition at the immigration checkpoint near Gila Bend.

The driver, a US citizen juvenile male, was transporting three illegal alien passengers from Mexico, according to a press release.

The second incident occurred around 3 pm at the Interstate 19 immigration checkpoint near Amado. Agents inspecting a Chevy Cruise driven by a local woman discovered two illegal aliens hidden in the vehicle’s trunk.

Approximately three hours later and at the same checkpoint the third incident occurred. Agents arrested another local woman for attempting to smuggle two illegal aliens from Mexico inside a Jeep Patriot.

All seven individuals were found to be illegally present in the United States. They were processed for immigration violations and expelled from the US. Two of the suspected smugglers were booked into US Border Patrol custody and subsequently released. The third remains in custody pending disposition for federal smuggling charges.
